The Minister of Higher Education Addresses Sudan University Celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and Technology

Prof. Intisar Al-Zein Saghiroun, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Government of Sudan, addressed the activities of the celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science and Technology, which takes place on February 11 of each year.


The celebration was organized by the UNESCO Chair for Women in Science and Technology at Sudan University of Science and Technology in cooperation with the UNESCO office in Khartoum and the Sudanese National Commission for Education and Science And culture, with the participation of the Knowledge Transfer Program of the Sudanese Working Abroad and the World Organization for Sustainable Development in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Hall.


Prof. Saghiroun expressed her happiness with the sponsorship of various scientific and research programs and commented that the presence of women in all forums confirms their great role in society and that their dedication and generosity over time constitutes a legacy and history that serves as rich development ground in various fields, scientific levels and research disciplines. Prof. Saghiroun also showed that the contributions of women have given them the status they deserve and  the Sudanese revolution is an example that confirms women's struggle, courage and ability for positive change.


In his speech, Prof. Awad Saad Hassan, vice chancellor of the university saluted the Sudanese who have challenged the difficulties in order to gain freedom and rights. He stated that everyone should stand in respect and reverence for women in recognition of their generosity and dedication in all areas of life and at the level of the university, women represent a large segment of whose achievements are rich and paint a distinctive plate of effectiveness and efficiency.


Mr. Pavel Kroupkine, Head of UNESCO Office in Khartoum stressed the need to pay attention to education and instill a spirit of perseverance and scientific and cultural creativity in women from a young age. He valued UNESCO's role in supporting and developing programs for women in all fields, especially scientific ones.
